I decided to launch Portland Street Style because the majority of people living here are fashionable, trendy people who make strong statements every day about who they are and what they’re about just in the clothes they wear. Obviously, there’s a lot more to each of these individuals than that, but I believe that fashion is an art and we are the mediums.
The trendsetters on this site reflect what’s going on in Portland and the surrounding area–you might find some friendly faces from Seattle, San Francisco, and L.A. hiding in these pages as well, since this city is becoming quite the destination spot for forward-thinking folk. As such, we have a number of monthly art walks and events in various neighborhoods during the pretty months, beer festivals, markets, shows, and fashion weeks. Portland-based designers remain independent of the larger industry–they do things their own way, like putting on eco-friendly, sustainable shows and using organic fibers. You will find Portland style to be as varied as the individuals that create it. I hope that I can impart a bit of the uniqueness that makes this town so special.
